ABOUT THE EVENT
The Community Foundation's Annual Celebration of Philanthropy is a recently rebranded community advocate awards dinner previously recognized as the Herbert M Davidson Award for Outstanding Community Service. Herbert M. Davidson served as editor and publisher of the Daytona Beach News-Journal for nearly 58 years. He was honored throughout the South and beyond for his leadership in the quest for civil liberties. Mr. Davidson also headed the Community Chest in 1952 and supported its successor organizations, the United Fund and the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties. Past honorees of the Community Foundation are community leaders such as: Hyatt and Cici Brown (1994) ,Glenn Ritchey (2003), Preston Root (2015), Lesa France Kennedy (2018), Joseph Petrock (2021), and Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune (2021).
This year the Community Foundation’s Annual Celebration of Philanthropy will recognize several community advocates and champions committed to supporting the Volusia and Flagler communities. The 2022 Celebration hosted by the Community Foundation of Volusia/Flagler Counties, a division of the United Way, is proud to announce the 2023 award honorees Dr Pamela Carbiener. Additionally, the Community Foundation will recognize a young leader with an award for community advocacy Priscilla Chanfrau

Their contributions to the Volusia and Flagler communities as donors, advocates, and volunteers have created long-term benefit for our community. Additionally, the Community Foundation will recognize a young leader with an award for community advocacy. Carrie Torres, founder of Provision Packs, now serving 17 schools with food bags each week will be recognized at the event alongside the Grants on November 2, 2022, at the Hard Rock Hotel.

ABOUT THE EVENT
The Financial Symposium is presented annually by the Community Foundation of Volusia & Flagler, in partnership with the Estate Planning Council of the Fun Coast, as an educational forum that features leading speakers on timely topics regarding financial & estate planning. The Symposium is popular among financial advisors and other professionals who advise clients, and offers continuing education credits for attending the event. The program presents current and vital information for attorneys, CPAs, estate planners, insurance professionals and their clients on how to build a better future for themselves and our community.
ABOUT THE AWARD
This year will mark the 27th annual presentation of the Davidson Award since its inception. It is presented to recognize individuals who have demonstrated a career of exceptional service to our community.
