Bequests

There are numerous ways for you to enjoy your property during your lifetime and leave a valuable bequest for the causes most meaning to you. You may create a lasting legacy in your name for your care of our community. Most often, a bequest you make today can be changed later should you decide to do something different.

Bequests to the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties, Inc. are exempt from federal estate taxes. If you have a taxable estate, you and may benefit from significant tax savings.

We will be happy to personally consult with you and work closely with your professional advisors to design your bequest to ensure we understand and honor your charitable intent.

Bequests often include beneficiary designations in your:

  • Revocable Living Trust

  • 401K or other Retirement Plan Designation

Examples or bequest designations include:

  • For the general purposes of the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties, Inc. expert service to the community. The United Way Unrestricted Endowment Fund meets the ever-changing needs of our community. No one knows what tomorrow may bring for our community. Unrestricted funds allow us to respond thoughtfully and quickly to our community's needs. 
  • For the long-term operating support of the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties, Inc. The EDGE Fund (Every Dollar Gets Empowered) is a growing endowment whose earnings will offset the operating costs of the United Way and enable 100% of the annual campaign donations to go directly to people in need. 
  • To my individual Charitable Fund at the Community Foundation of Volusia & Flagler. We can work with you today, at no cost, to establish your personal charitable fund, in your name, which can receive your bequest and describes how you would like for your gift to be used to support the causes most important to you.
  • Any combination of the above.
